Each year the Mandatum Award is presented at the Gala of the Arts
in recognition of an individual, family, or organization
who is living and exemplifying
Christ’s mandate
to serve the poor with compassion and generosity.
Catholic Charities is proud to honor
For their living example of fulfilling Christ’s mandate to serve the poor, through sustained acts of charity.
Charity not only has a long tradition in the Mulaney family, it appears to be part of the family fabric. Three generations of this extraordinary family have graced and continue to uplift Catholic Charities of the Archdiocese of Chicago with their service to the poor and vulnerable.
A member of the Board of Advisors since 1982, and of the Board of Directors, Chip has served with great diligence on the Annual Giving (Stewardship) sub-committee, the Major Gifts committee, and the By-Laws committee. He currently chairs the Nominating committee, where he inspires and sponsors many promising candidates to participation in the mission of charity. With great distinction, Chip also served as Chairman of the Board from 2008 to 2010.
Together, Ellen and Chip have chaired “The Spirit of St. Nicholas Ball”, while also supporting what seems to be about every Catholic Charities event. Through their generosity and constant good spirit, Ellen and Chip have provided great example and made a great difference to many of Catholic Charities’ programs and projects. They have answered our Lord’s call to serve neighbors in need.
Catholic Charities is honored to bestow the Mandatum Award to Chip and Ellen Mulaney for their dedication to our mission which has made a lasting impact on Catholic Charities and the thousands of people and families we serve.
